Why You Haven't Been Growing After Investing In Your Business

Why You Haven’t Been Growing After Investing In Your Business

How you’re choosing upgrades that won’t change you.

When you’re in the first few years of building your business and you’re educating yourself on everything you need to know to make it successful, you can feel like a kid in a candy store — completely ecstatic by the number of choices you have, but also overwhelmed by the 5 different shades of chocolate malt balls you need to choose from (why so many?).

This feeling is so strong when you’re in the thick of choosing between multiple courses, coaches, conferences, and more for your business.

You want to uplevel but you’re taken aback by which step is going to help you truly go from 0 to 100.

Which investment is going to stretch your dollar to its max extent?

A $500 investment for example, can either help you buy an interesting 3-month course, or give you 2 powerful sessions with a coach that completely changes the trajectory of your year.

The results all depend on whether you choose that $500 on the solution that’s going to provide the most transformation for you.

Upgrades That Don’t Change You

When choosing the right investment for your business, you have to ask yourself this question: which investment is going to help me confront what makes me wildly uncomfortable?

An investment in your business won’t feel transformational if you buy a course that talks about how to streamline your operations and you’d already rate yourself 6 out of 10 stars on that topic.

What you need to do instead is invest in the areas of your business that you’re 0 out of 10 at, or that you’ve been avoiding because you dislike it that much.

You’re going to see much more transformation if you go from 0 to 100 on an area of your business that’s a serious gap for you, rather than one you’re pretty okay at already.

Pretty simple advice, but not many of you will take it because we usually don’t run towards what scares us, we run away from it.

That’s the kicker of this whole conversation — in order to put your money in something that’ll be a true upgrade, you first need to put some skin in the game. You have to commit to something that’s wildly uncomfortable for you.

So many of us make lackluster investments in our business because we’re fearful of selecting what would truly catapult us into another stratosphere. We’re fearful of selecting this option because massive change requires uncomfortable confrontations.

No one likes to look at the most unsavory parts of themselves and have a conversation about why they suck. Ignoring these parts of you is much easier.

If you truly want to upgrade your business, take a hard look at the things you’d give yourself a 0 out of 10 at.

Is it sales? Showing your face on Instagram stories? Public speaking? Financials?

No matter how hard this confrontation feels, this is where you’ll find the treasure you’re seeking.
